Have You Had A Smoothie Bowl For Dinner Before?
I had my first “Spootie bowl” aka smoothie bowl at Viva La Raw - a raw vegan retreat center in Costa Rica back in 2012. A very talented chef Eric was making these bowls for breakfast for us with lots of tropical fruits and greens. He called them “Spootie” meaning you can eat them with a spoon 🥣
It’s such a great idea to have a bowl instead of drinking up a smoothie quickly. When smoothie is poured in a bowl it forces us to slow down instead of mindlessly jugging down a glass of smoothie without even chewing it.
If you eat your smoothie bowl slowly and mindfully you won’t be so hungry after it. It is all about mindful eating and not being distracted by scrolling on the phone and/or watching a movie at the same time, or eating in front of the computer while working.
When we are distracted by other processes and not focused on chewing the food properly we are missing the important part of the digestive process. Remember always to chew your smoothies, even the ones in a glass, as digestion begins in the mouth.
To make your dinner smoothie bowl more filling add a tbsp of some nut butter and chia seeds. They will make you feel more full.
I just blended the following ingredients I had:
2 cups Spinach leaves
2 cups Bananas
1 tbsp Raw walnut butter
1 tbsp chia seeds
And about 1/4 cup of chopped dried pineapple as I like little chunks in my smoothie bowl.
Plus I added one serving of Soy lecithin granules to the blend.
Topped with bee pollen, goji berries, and thawed blueberries.
