Don't Be Afraid of Coconut Oil

The healthiest oil to use but of course in moderation.

I only have a few oils I use the most: coconut oil, a tiny bit of avocado oil I use for frying when I want some crispy texture, and a touch of sesame oil for some dressings because it just smells and tastes so good to me.

I also use some coconut oil in raw and baked desserts.

All other cooking I do is pretty much with just water or vegan broth.

When buying your coconut oil make sure to get the Unrefined one.

Per HMI Nutrition School @hminutritionschool “Refined oil is made from almost rancid dry coconut meat shreds, with very high temperatures of over 400F, and has zero nutritional value and is highly processed”.

Always choose an unrefined one. Yes, it will have a coconut smell. But I’d better have this one vs Refined with no smell but highly processed.

If you can, get a centrifugal extracted organic coconut oil.
The key word is “centrifugal”. It means that coconut “meat” was spun at a higher speed to extract the oil. There is no heating involved unlike in all others, even “extra virgin” oils (which is second best after centrifugal). Centrifugal extracted coconut oil usually comes in small batches. I only was able to find it online, but not in any of the major stores.

Benefits of coconut oil:

- Antimicrobial and antiviral. Kills many viruses, bacteria, and parasites, including Candida fungus (On Candida protocol, we actually drink organic green tea with some organic unrefined coconut oil in it to fight off candida overgrowth and parasites).
- Helps to boost metabolism.
- Assists in weight loss (if you do not use other oil fats in your diet and do not use other sources of fat like animal fat)
- Provides energy and improves peak performance.
- Great for healing skin issues (Acne, eczema, psoriasis, etc.
- It is a clean beauty product. Conditions and strengthens hair, is great for removing makeup, skin moisturizer, heals cuts and rashes, acts as a mild sunblock.
